Able Bodied Seaman

Stevin Rock is seeking a reliable and safety-driven Able Bodied Seaman to support harbour operations at its marine facilities. The role plays a key part in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels and maintaining high operational standards across the harbour.

The position reports to the Marine Manager and Marine Supervisor and involves close coordination with internal teams, vessel masters, and port authorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the safe berthing and unberthing of tugs and barges operating within Stevin Rock Harbour and Raymond Jetty
• Coordinate with Marine Management to plan vessel movements and ensure berth suitability for incoming and outgoing vessels
• Liaise with port control, vessel agents, and masters regarding daily berthing schedules, ETA updates, and harbour movements
• Inspect vessels on arrival and departure and report any damage or defects
• Operate hydraulic ramps as required to support loading operations
• Monitor berth conditions and report any damage to harbour infrastructure including conveyors, ramps, and retaining walls
• Support pollution control measures by ensuring vessels fuel in designated safe areas and comply with harbour waste management procedures
• Ensure all marine documentation including arrival reports, statements of facts and sailing reports are properly collected and acknowledged prior to vessel departure
• Participate in emergency response and HSE training and drills
• Provide accurate operational information to vessel masters regarding berthing locations, draft limitations, harbour restrictions and layby arrangements
• Enforce all harbour safety and security procedures within the scope of the role
  
  

Experience/Qualifications

• Previous experience in marine or harbour operations preferred
• Strong understanding of harbour safety and operational procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with multi-national crews and stakeholders
• Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment and follow strict safety standards
