Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, offers 213 luxurious guestrooms and suites, six private pool villas, and 161 fully furnished serviced apartments featuring a one-kilometre private beach which blends modern Arabic design with exceptional comfort.

As an Assistant Director of Engineering, you will support the Director of Engineering in managing all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted functioning of the property. Also, you will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, support capital projects, and ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards. And you will also lead the engineering team to maintain high standards of facility performance, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering department, including maintenance, utilities, and technical services.
• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of building systems and equipment.
• Supervise engineering team members, provide technical guidance, and support training and performance management activities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety requirements, energy management initiatives, and company standards.
• Support budgeting, cost control, CAPEX planning, contractor management, and execution of engineering projects.
  
  

About You

• Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, BMS, and fire & life safety systems.
• Proven leadership and team-management capabilities.
• Strong project management and maintenance planning skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
• Good financial awareness including budgeting and cost optimization.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related professional engineering certification will be required.
• Certification in HVAC, BMS, energy management, Health & Safety training (IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Knowledge of UAE authority requirements and building compliance standards will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial or senior engineering supervisory role.
• Experience managing CAPEX projects, contractors, engineering budgets, sustainability initiatives, energy optimization, and hotel engineering systems is an added advantage.
• Previous experience with internationally branded luxury or upscale hotels is highly preferred.
