Compliance Assurance Unit

The unit is responsible for conducting the Group Compliance Assurance Review programme to verify that the Group complies with the regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies and procedures. This entails planning, development and implementation of a risk-based Group Compliance assurance review plan, working with business units to undertake reviews, and issuing reports that provide assurance as well as highlighting deficiencies so they can be rectified. The Compliance Assurance function is responsible for maintaining a log of all compliance related issues across the Group. The function also aids in the development of compliance reports to support the OPFO, GCC and BRCC.

Role Summary

To establish an effective Group-wide Compliance Assurance function, to develop a Compliance testing plan and execute risk-based compliance testing reviews to assess whether controls are effective to ensure the Bank’s Group Compliance policies and regulatory requirements are being adhered to and escalate to the Bank’s senior management events of material non-compliance or insufficiently mitigated risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing reviews within the Group.
• Support in the development of the annual UAE testing plan, testing schedules and associated working papers.
• Consult with relevant departments in the UAE to ensure that the coverage, scope and approach to delivering reviews are planned and targeted effectively.
• Execute Compliance testing reviews (desk/thematic) in accordance with the testing plan and procedure, including control design assessment and operational effectiveness testing.
• Prepare testing reports and track business unit remediation activity.
• Contribute as a thought-leader to evaluating and refining Compliance Testing and review methodologies, coordinating with local and global colleagues to determine and implement firm-wide and industry best practices.
• Upload issues identified on Compliance issue management system.
• Support Compliance Assurance team members on any ad hoc tasks as applicable.
  
  

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, corporate governance, risk management or internal audit.
  
  

Minimum Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a reputed bank or auditing firm.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in compliance monitoring and testing activities or in auditing.
  
  

Preferred / Beneficial

• Certification in compliance, corporate governance, risk management or internal audit.
