Category Manager

Stevin Rock LLC is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Category Manager to join our Procurement team. Reporting to the Procurement & Supply Chain Director, this role will lead strategic sourcing, category management and supplier relationship activities across a major mining and quarrying operation.

The successful candidate will develop and execute category strategies that deliver sustainable value through total cost of ownership (TCO) optimisation, supplier performance improvement, contract management and strategic procurement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category and supplier strategies aligned with business objectives
• Lead sourcing initiatives, supplier qualification and contract negotiations
• Analyse market trends, supplier capabilities and cost drivers to identify opportunities for value creation
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships
• Drive supplier performance through KPI monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance and senior stakeholders to ensure procurement activities support business requirements
• Conduct supplier evaluations, audits and risk assessments
• Manage forecasting activities and develop supply continuity plans
• Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities
• Support procurement governance, compliance and best practice initiatives
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline
• Professional procurement qualification such as CIPS or CPM preferred
• Minimum 10 years' experience in strategic procurement and category management
• Experience within mining, quarrying, heavy industry, construction materials or related sectors
• Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills
• Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing
• Strong analytical, financial and stakeholder management capabilities
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement analysis tools
• Fluent English and valid driving licence
