Job Brief:
Our client in the construction industry is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee contractual matters, claims management, contract negotiations, variations, dispute resolution, and legal matters related to construction contracts. The ideal candidate will have extensive local experience in contracts management within the construction sector, with strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and regional laws applicable to construction contracts.
The role requires hands-on experience managing contractual and legal disputes, arbitration, and litigation proceedings, as well as coordinating with external legal advisors and law firms. This Contracts Manager Job requires a commercially and legally astute professional capable of protecting the company's contractual interests and effectively managing complex construction contract matters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee contracts throughout the project lifecycle within the construction sector.
- Review, interpret, and administer construction contracts, including FIDIC-based contracts.
- Manage contractual claims, variations, extensions, and other contractual matters.
- Handle tendering activities and support the review and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions.
- Lead and support contract negotiations with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identify contractual risks and provide appropriate recommendations to protect the company's commercial and contractual interests.
- Manage claims and dispute resolution processes in accordance with contractual requirements and applicable laws.
- Handle legal disputes, arbitration, and court/litigation proceedings, including managing cases, liaising with legal counsel, and representing the company in claims or litigation matters.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and law firms on contractual, legal, dispute, arbitration, and litigation matters.
- Apply knowledge of Civil, Commercial, and Labor Law to contractual matters within the construction sector.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, claims, variations, correspondence, disputes, and other contractual documentation.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, management, clients, consultants, contractors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders on contractual and legal matters.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of local experience in contracts management within the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, claims management, and construction law.
- Experience handling tendering, contract negotiation, variations, and dispute resolution.
- Solid understanding of Civil, Commercial, and Labor Law as applicable to construction contracts.
- Hands-on experience with legal disputes, arbitration, and court/litigation proceedings, including handling cases, liaising with legal counsel, and representing the company in claims or litigation.
- Ability to coordinate with external legal advisors/law firms on contractual and legal matters.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driving license preferred.
