Located on Hayat Island, InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa is a luxury beachfront resort where island living meets authentic Arabian hospitality. We’re searching for a Director of Engineering that sees the big picture to keep his team one step ahead of maintenance challenges. While motivating them to take pride in delivering safe and compliant stays 24/7/365 A little taste of your day-to-day: Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
  • Leading all engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the resort is safe, efficient, and maintained to the highest luxury standards.

  • Developing and inspiring a high-performing engineering team through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Driving preventive maintenance programmes to maximise asset reliability and minimise operational disruptions.

  • Managing departmental budgets, capital projects, and maintenance expenses while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability.

  • Overseeing the maintenance of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen and laundry equipment, water treatment, pools, and life safety systems.

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Leading renovation and refurbishment projects while working closely with contractors, consultants, and corporate teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Supervising a number of maintenance and engineering staff as well as tradespeople and contractors in a large, luxury, resort setting

  • Supporting operational departments by responding promptly to maintenance needs and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

  • Championing energy conservation and sustainability initiatives across the resort.


What We need from you:
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Extensive engineering leadership experience within luxury hotels or resorts.

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and building management systems.

  • Proven experience managing large engineering teams, preventive maintenance programmes, and capital expenditure projects.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience preparing and managing departmental budgets.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Thorough understanding of health, safety, environmental, and statutory compliance.

  • Professional engineering certifications or licences are an advantage.
