E commerce Developer & SEO Specialist - Arabic Speaking Required

Role overview

Dr. Scent is building a global e-commerce platform using Medusa v2 and Next.js to serve the UAE store and independently operated country agents in more than 40 markets, in Arabic and English. The role combines hands-on development with ownership of Arabic SEO. As the technical platform owner and single point of contact between the development partner and internal stakeholders, you will translate business needs into reliable functionality, improve search visibility and enable the team to manage routine website work internally.

Key responsibilities :

Platform ownership and vendor coordination

• Act as the single point of contact between the development partner, management and internal teams, including country agents.

• Translate business needs into prioritised requirements and tickets; maintain a written record of decisions and scope changes.

• Attend sprint demonstrations, review deliverables against the agreed scope and acceptance criteria, and lead user acceptance testing.

• Track vendor milestones, defects and support requests; escalate delivery risks and dependencies early.

Arabic and multi market SEO

• Own Arabic and English SEO for the UAE store and each launched country store.

• Research Arabic keywords by market, accounting for regional language differences, including Gulf and Levant Arabic.

• Maintain country-language URLs such as /ae-ar, hreflang, canonicals, structured data, sitemaps, robots directives and Core Web Vitals.

• Plan and validate the WooCommerce SEO migration, including URL inventories, 301 redirects and pre-launch and post launch ranking monitoring.

• Guide Marketing and country agents on Arabic content, metadata and on-page optimisation.

Development and technical quality

• Implement front-end and back-end changes in Next.js and Medusa, including content blocks, landing pages, small features and fixes.

• Review vendor code, pull requests and releases; manage company repositories and development, staging and production environments.

• Support integrations with ERP, Bitrix24 CRM, the mobile app, Stripe, Tabby, Tamara and Brevo.

Tracking performance and data

• Maintain GA4, Google Tag Manager, Search Console and advertising tracking; reconcile recorded online sales with backend orders and investigate discrepancies.

• Monitor website speed, uptime and errors, and report monthly on SEO and platform performance.

Country agent support

• Onboard country stores, covering settings, content, SEO and training for agent teams.

• Provide first-line technical support and escalate issues to the development partner when required.

Requirements

• At least four years of web development experience, including two years working on e-commerce websites.

• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, React and Next.js skills; working knowledge of Node.js and REST APIs.

• Proven technical SEO experience on bilingual or multi-country websites, including hreflang, canonicals, structured data, redirects, sitemaps and Core Web Vitals.

• Native Arabic and fluent English, with hands-on Arabic keyword research and content optimisation experience.

• Experience with GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console. • Experience coordinating an external development agency or vendor.

• Comfortable using Git, reviewing code and managing staging and production releases.

• Ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical colleagues.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Based in, or willing to relocate to, the UAE.

Nice to have

• Medusa v2 or another headless commerce platform; WooCommerce/WordPress migration experience with SEO preservation.

PostgreSQL and basic DevOps experience with Vercel, DigitalOcean or AWS.

• ERP or CRM integrations, ideally Bitrix24; GCC payment integrations such as Tabby, Tamara and Stripe.

• Headless CMS experience, such as Sanity or Strapi; multi-country or franchise e-commerce rollouts in the GCC.

• Google Analytics or SEO certifications.
