Front & Backend Developer (Senior Role)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Front & Backend Developer with 12+ years of experience to architect and deliver the web platforms, APIs and dashboards that power a next-generation smart living ecosystem. You will own solutions end to end, from the user interface to the services, data and infrastructure behind it. You will work closely with the Head of Technology, the AI, mobile and product design teams, and you will set engineering standards for the wider team.

Technical Stack & Ecosystem

• Front End: React JS, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind CSS
• Back End: Python (FastAPI), Node.js, REST and GraphQL APIs, WebSockets
• Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, DuckDB, Apache Parquet
• Smart Home & Real-Time: Home Assistant APIs, MQTT, WebSockets
• AI Integration: LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor)
• Infrastructure: Docker, Linux, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Proxmox VE

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define the architecture, standards and best practices for the platform across front end, back end and data layers.
• Lead technical design reviews, code reviews and engineering decisions, and mentor developers across the team.
• Translate product and business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

2. Front-End Development

• Build high-performance, responsive web applications, dashboards and control interfaces in React and TypeScript.
• Create resident, operations and administration portals that visualize device states, telemetry and system controls in real time.
• Work with the UX and Product Design team to deliver polished, accessible interfaces.

3. Back-End Development

• Design and build secure, scalable APIs and services in Python and Node.js.
• Integrate smart home platforms, IoT data streams and third-party systems using MQTT, WebSockets and REST APIs.
• Build authentication, authorization and data-access layers to production-grade security standards.

4. Data & AI Integration

• Design relational and analytical data models, and build pipelines that ingest and serve large volumes of sensor and telemetry data.
• Integrate LLM-powered features, agents and RAG services into the platform with the AI Engineering team.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining high code quality.

5. DevOps, Quality & Reliability

• Containerize applications with Docker and manage CI/CD pipelines, environments and deployments.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring and logging to ensure performance and uptime.
• Collaborate with the Quality and Mobile Engineering teams so web and mobile experiences work as one product.

Requirements

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience: 12+ years of professional software development experience across front-end and back-end engineering, including senior or lead-level ownership of production platforms.
• Front End: Expert-level React JS and TypeScript, with strong HTML, CSS and modern state management.
• Back End: Deep expertise in Python (FastAPI) and/or Node.js, with proven experience designing REST APIs and microservices.
• Data: Strong command of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis), and of data modelling for performance and scale.
• Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker, Linux, CI/CD and cloud environments.
• Real-Time Systems: Experience with WebSockets, event-driven architecture or MQTT in production.
• Leadership: Proven ability to mentor developers, drive technical standards and make sound architectural decisions.
• AI Tooling Fluent: Active user of AI-augmented development tools such as Claude and Cursor.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with smart home, IoT, PropTech or building-management platforms, including Home Assistant.
• Exposure to LLM integration, RAG or agentic AI applications in production.
• Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code or self-hosted environments such as Proxmox VE.
• Background in real estate, hospitality, wellness or luxury consumer technology.
