Integration Solution Architect
Petrofac
The Integration Solution Architect defines and governs the organisation’s integration architecture and strategy, ensuring that applications, platforms, and data systems connect through secure, standardised, and reusable patterns that enable agility, interoperability, and real-time business insight.
The role provides both enterprise-level leadership and solution-level enablement, defining integration reference architectures, standards, and catalogues that guide how Petrofac designs and delivers connected digital services.
Working across cloud, data, and application domains, the Integration Architect ensures that all integration solutions are scalable, observable, automated, and event-driven — supporting a shift from point-to-point and synchronous models toward a composable, real-time integration fabric that underpins the enterprise.
This role combines enterprise governance (standards, catalogues, and lifecycle management) with solution-level delivery support, helping projects adopt modern integration practices such as API-led connectivity, event-streaming, low-code integration, and metadata-driven orchestration. The Integration Solution Architect ensures every integration decision contributes to improved automation, faster time-to-value, and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve the enterprise integration strategy, aligning with business objectives, data governance, and cloud platform roadmaps.
- Design and maintain reference architectures and reusable patterns covering:
o API-led and service-oriented architectures (SOA)
o Event-driven and streaming architectures (Kafka, Event Grid, Event Mesh)
o Data-driven integration (CDC, streaming ingestion, analytics pipelines)
o Workflow and low-code integration (OIC Process Automation, Logic Apps, Power Automate).
- Own and govern the integration catalogue within the EA repository, ensuring APIs, events, and message contracts are version-controlled, documented, and reusable.
- Champion the transition to future integration paradigms, including federated API mesh, metadata-driven orchestration, and AI-assisted integration tooling.
- Provide technical leadership for integration platforms, including Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, API Management) and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
- Embed observability and resilience into all integrations, defining standards for logging, tracing, correlation IDs, retries, and automated error handling.
- Collaborate with Cloud, Data, and Security Architects to ensure integrated solutions are performant, governed, and compliant.
- Support project delivery by reviewing designs, guiding implementation, and ensuring adherence to integration standards and platform best practices.
- Establish and monitor integration KPIs (throughput, latency, reuse rates, error ratios, recovery MTTR) to drive continuous improvement.
- Promote automation and DevOps practices for integration build and deployment, embedding CI/CD pipelines, API contract testing, and policy-as-code governance.
- Contribute to solution and technology governance boards (SRB/TDA) to assure consistency of design and technology alignment across initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8–10 years’ experience in integration architecture and design across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Proven experience implementing API-led, event-driven, and data-driven integration architectures.
- Strong expertise with integration platforms such as:
o Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, API Management)
o Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or Oracle Service Bus
o Other iPaaS solutions (MuleSoft, Boomi, Kafka, Confluent, WSO2).
- Practical experience with API management, schema design, versioning, and contract testing.
- Familiarity with streaming and real-time data technologies (Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Flink, Spark Streaming).
- Knowledge of data integration pipelines (ADF, Synapse Pipelines, Informatica, Talend) and CDC methods.
- Understanding of security integration, including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and gateway policy enforcement.
- Experience implementing CI/CD automation and infrastructure-as-code for integration deployments.
- Working knowledge of observability stacks (App Insights, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for integration health and traceability.
- Proficiency with Enterprise Architecture repositories and modelling tools (Orbus Infinity, LeanIX, Sparx EA) and standards such as ArchiMate, UML, BPMN.
- Familiarity with governance and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) and their implications for data movement and API design.
- Desirable: Experience integrating Oracle Fusion, EPM, Primavera, Unifier, and .NET/APEX platforms.
