Job Description – Quantity Surveyor (Supervision Team)

Position Purpose

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for supporting cost management and financial control of projects. This role involves preparing cost estimates, assisting in feasibility studies, analyzing project costs, managing contracts, reviewing Interim Payment Applications (IPAs), assessing Extension of Time (EOT) requests, and ensuring accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The QS will collaborate closely with senior surveyors, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

A. Cost Estimation & Budgeting

· Prepare cost estimates for projects at concept, design, tender, and construction stages.

· Assist in developing project budgets and monitoring alignment with objectives.

· Support feasibility studies to assess financial viability.


B. Tendering & Procurement

· Prepare bills of quantities (BoQs) and pricing documents.

· Assist in evaluating tenders and contractor selection.

· Support negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.


C. Contract Administration

· Monitor contract compliance and assist in managing variations and claims.

· Review contractor progress claims and Interim Payment Applications (IPAs).

· Assess Extension of Time (EOT) requests and provide recommendations.

· Support dispute resolution processes when required.


D. Cost Control & Financial Reporting

· Track and report project costs to ensure budget compliance.

· Prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.

· Identify potential cost-saving opportunities.


E. Risk & Value Management

· Assist in analyzing financial and contractual risks.

· Support change control processes and ensure variations are recorded.


F. Collaboration

· Work closely with senior QSs, project managers, architects, engineers, and clients.

· Provide accurate cost and contractual advice to stakeholders.


G. Final Accounts

· Assist in preparing and settling final accounts with contractors.

· Support reconciliation of project costs against original estimates..


Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

· Experience: minimum 8 years of experience in Quantity Surveyor roles, with at least 3 years airport experience. Experience in consulting, construction, or engineering projects is preferred.

· Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, MCIPS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
