Responsible for the administration of the operations and activities of the Student Accessibility Services Department ensuring it is in line with stated goals, vision and mission. Proactively promotes awareness about SAS to encourage acceptance of students with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, etc.) amongst the teaching community.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain criteria and procedures for determining eligibility for disability accommodations and services
• Advise faculty and administrators of legal responsibilities and establish compliance procedures
• Maintain confidential database of all students with disabilities
• Manage caseload of students and oversee support services for students with learning disabilities
• Liaise with faculty to ensure delivery of curriculum in accessible format
• Provide training and orientation for instructors about educational needs of students with learning difficulties
• Provide academic evaluation for students with learning issues and decide on proper accommodation
• Provide academic tutoring, advising, and training in course content, study skills, time-management
• Review and interpret psycho-educational evaluations, Individualized Education Plans
• Coach students in applying proven academic strategies
• Conduct workshops on learning disabilities for professional development of faculty and staff
  
  

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, Education with minimum 4 years of relevant experience in administering services for individuals with learning disabilities
• Fluent in Arabic and English
• Demonstrated understanding of UAE Disabilities Law
• Demonstrated understanding of developmental issues facing university students from diverse cultures
• Demonstrated knowledge of disability assessment, accommodations, services and assistive technologies
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills
