Job Brief:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in commercial kitchen ventilation systems, particularly kitchen ventilation hoods.

The role focuses on the technical development of new and existing commercial kitchen ventilation hood products, including prototyping, testing, supplier qualification, and commissioning of Demand-Controlled Kitchen Ventilation (DCKV) systems.

The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the R&D Manager, 3D Designer, and cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, and Projects, to develop reliable, high-quality commercial kitchen ventilation products.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and improve commercial kitchen ventilation hoods, working with the 3D Designer to translate requirements into manufacturable products.
• Write test plans and protocols for hood performance, including airflow, capture/containment, grease extraction, noise, and other relevant parameters.
• Carry out physical tests in the laboratory and on-site, record and analyse results, and report findings.
• Identify root causes of test failures and drive corrective design actions.
• Identify, evaluate, and vet suppliers for components and materials, including inspection, sample testing, and documentation review.
• Commission demand-controlled ventilation systems on-site, including sensor setup, calibration, and control logic verification.
• Troubleshoot demand-controlled ventilation performance issues in the field.
• Review supplier documentation, including datasheets, manuals, test reports, and certifications.
• Plan and execute structured testing activities efficiently.
• Travel occasionally for site commissioning across the GCC region.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, when required by project deadlines.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in product development, ideally involving HVAC, ventilation, or commercial kitchen equipment.
• Mandatory experience with commercial kitchen ventilation systems, particularly kitchen ventilation hoods.
• Strong understanding of airflow, extraction, and demand-controlled ventilation principles.
• Experience in writing and executing structured test plans.
• Comfortable reviewing supplier documentation, including datasheets, manuals, test reports, and certifications.
• Working knowledge of DW 172, EN 16282, and ASHRAE Standard 154.
• Self-motivated and proactive in planning tests, making decisions, and organising work efficiently.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor) would be an advantage.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site commissioning across the GCC region.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project deadlines.
• Hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
