The Media Analytics Director is responsible for the development of using data to make informed decisions across GDMO. The role holder is expected to do this through the strategic implementation of a Research and Analytics team and a Media Monitoring team. The teams support departments across GDMO through data, research, reports and insights that help shape the communications and activities planned and carried out by the GDMO departments. This support is provided at both the planning stages and the post-implementation stages, through monitoring of outcomes, metrics, changes in sentiment, media releases etc. The Media Analytics Director is also responsible for the unifying “Dubai Key Messages” – a matrix of topics that sit at the core of GDMO’s communications, in alignment with the Dubai Vision. The role holder is expected to demonstrate leadership skills, financial and budget management acumen and carry out his/her duties in accordance with the relevant business policies and proceduresز

1.


General Responsibilities


  • Develop the strategy for Media Analytics, across the Research and Analytics team and the Media Monitoring team, to support the overall GDMO vision, direction and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the strategic vision for Media Analytics to achieve the strategic objectives set out for the department in line with the overall GDMO strategy.
  • Lead the teams within Media Analytics to deliver the objectives set out in alignment with the GDMO strategy through research, data and reports.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Directors across GDMO, working together when needed to support and deliver the GDMO strategy.
  • Develop and manage the Media Analytics budget, working with Finance to secure funds and ensuring proper tracking of the allocated budgets across the Media Analytics Center teams.
  • Ensure monthly KPI reports are generated, shared with Strategy & Excellence on time and supported by documentation to aid in capturing and calculating the KPI metrics.
  • Develop talent within the MA teams, focusing on soft skills as well as technical skills development.

Research and Analytics


  • Establish partnerships with service providers and governments to gain access to and obtain any required data and information for decision making and reports.
  • Set the strategy to be able to identify the requirements of GDMO’s customers accurately and consistently with regards to media communications and information needs, as well as media entities requirements.
  • Ensure the development of the strategy, systems and structures by the Research and Analytics team to be able to assess the external environment (media landscape, competition, media consumption trends and habits, media industry changes).
  • Ensure the development of a framework by the Research ad Analytics team to be able to evaluate the performance of the current communications for GDMO, Strategic Communications, Brand Dubai, DPC and the Media Center, including but not limited to sentiment analysis, media releases, social media content and website metrics.
  • Ensure the development of a fact sheet on Dubai and Leadership, using statistics derived from the Dubai government combined with information from other sources, covering all sectors and industries within Dubai, to be shared periodically (monthly) with GDMO departments.
  • Implement fact-checking services to ensure the correctness of information that is being shared, so that GDMO is positioned as the source of true and accurate news.
  • Lead the development of the framework for tracking and measuring strategic initiatives and projects metrics and impact, through which follow-up projects can be scoped as needed.
  • Set the requirements and vision for the research and analytics platforms, through which GDMO employees can self-serve and access research, analytics and reports as needed.
  • Ensure GDMO departments are provided with research using information gathered from multiple places, including other Dubai government entities, such as reports and white papers on media trends and deep-dive reports into media topics.
  • Actively drive strategic planning across GDMO teams by ensuring regularly disseminated strategic reports and information across local, regional and international markets and topics, including Dubai and Leadership.

Media Monitoring


  • Set the framework to monitor, track and report on social media trending topics and content on key topics of interest to GDMO.
  • Lead the development and implementation of platforms and systems within the Media Monitoring team to support activities related to monitoring social media topics and trends.
  • Ensure potential crisis situations are monitored via alerts and other monitoring processes and flagged to appropriate people across GDMO as needed.

Dubai Key Messages


  • Develop and identify the strategic messages and communication filters for Dubai, creating the Dubai Key Messages to be referred to across all GDMO departments in their external communications activities.
  • Drive the selection of focus markets and key messages to communicate within markets – local, regional and international.
  • Ensure regular sentiment analysis reports are conducted across the Dubai Key Messages and across markets globally, and shared with Directors and Strategic Relations.
  • Drive the development of case studies of successful and best-in-class communication initiatives, industry case studies, industry reports and industry trend reports, to showcase GDMO as best in class for government communications, Dubai communications, crisis communications, and the source for the most up-to-date and thought-provoking information across the media industry.

Crisis Comms


  • Study the impact of crisis comms messages and use the learnings to provide learnings for future communications.


Qualifications


Experience Required


  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 4 - 5 years in a similar role


  • A minimum of 7 years leading and managing teams
  • A minimum of 3 years managing a budget


Education and Qualification Required


  • Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or information technology
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy
