Job Description

  • Primarily responsible for planning, designing & installing Enterprise Data Networks for the entire university and thereafter following it up with high level of network support, network enhancement and fine-tuning.
  • Resolves network-related problems on a daily basis.
  • In support of change management within the data center, provides high quality network documentation to the Help Desk (Logical and Physical layouts) of all UAE University sites.
  • Executes small/big networking projects: (Site visits, Preparing Request For Proposal, technical evaluation, installation, implementation and commissioning).
  • Responsible for the integration of different types of networks like ATM, Giga Ethernet.
  • Installs and configures wireless networks across various campuses of the university
  • Upgrades networks and provides high level of support at all times.
  • Ensures LAN / WAN continuing functionality.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of structured cabling systems, active network, core/edge devices and wireless access points.
  • Responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of wired and wireless networks in all housing units (Hostels) for the students of the university.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Knowledge of Network configuration (TCP/IP, VLAN, LAN/WAN protocols; RAS and VPN Services)
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of Switching and routing fundamentals
  • Basic Knowledge of Passive structured cabling systems
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Good Communication & Report Writing Skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure in a fast paced work environment
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Data Communications & Networking
