Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our planning and development team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about creating sustainable transportation solutions and is ready to take the next step in their career. In this role, you will work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners, and other development professionals throughout the project lifecycle. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting projects spanning residential, commercial, infrastructure, and sustainable development sectors. This position offers the chance to work across multiple offices and collaborate with teams from various professions on strategically important initiatives.

Our core transport-related work focuses on supporting clients' planning applications and development strategies. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality technical analysis and strategic recommendations that drive project success.   • Lead the preparation, analysis, and delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Delivery and Servicing Plans, and other technical reports to support development applications and strategic planning initiatives
  • Conduct comprehensive transportation analysis using industry-standard software packages and tools to evaluate feasibility, impact, and optimization opportunities for development projects
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, architects, planners, and regulatory bodies throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring alignment on project objectives and deliverables
  • Mentor and supervise junior planning staff, providing guidance on technical standards, project delivery, and professional development while ensuring work quality meets organizational benchmarks
  • Develop and present compelling transportation strategies, feasibility studies, and masterplan recommendations to clients and stakeholders, including public forums and regulatory presentations
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals for new projects and work with project managers to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of all assignments
  • Engage in strategic negotiations with local authorities and regulatory bodies, demonstrating strong communication skills and deep understanding of regional planning frameworks
  • Contribute to the development of innovative transportation solutions that prioritize sustainability, efficiency, and long-term strategic goals
  • Maintain organized project documentation and ensure transparent communication with all stakeholders regarding project progress, challenges, and outcomes

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical discipline such as Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field
  • Proven professional experience in development-related transport planning with a demonstrated track record of preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and similar technical documentation
  • Proficiency with transportation software packages, data analysis tools, and MS Office applications (particularly Excel and Word) for analysis, modelling, and report preparation
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies; familiarity with planning systems and development approval processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to lead project work, delegate effectively, and mentor junior staff
  • Experience in understanding client briefs, developing fee proposals, and managing project budgets and timelines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related discipline, and professional membership with a recognised institution such as CIHT, SoRSA, CILT, IHE, TPS, or ICE
  • Experience with GIS software, spatial analysis tools, large-scale infrastructure projects, or strategic transportation planning initiatives
