Job Description
Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing service and site assistance on John Crane Turbomachinery products supporting compressor manufactures and end user customers. As part of the Global Turbomachinery team the incumbent will support the company drive to expand our portfolio of Services & Products in the Turbomachinery market in accordance with the corporate objectives, strategy, and plans
•Onsite Dry Gas Seal removal, strip, inspection, rebuild and installation into Turbo compressors.
•Identify and assist customers with upgrades of all Turbomachinery products.
•To understand and report upon the commercial opportunities of each customer site visited through the use of site surveys, the commercial opportunity sheet and customer interaction.
•Provide training to customers on gas seal and system related subjects.
•Troubleshooting on all Turbomachinery products.
•The role will include extensive levels of travel, sometime to remote areas both onshore and offshore and outside the region if required.
•Execution / Supervision of mechanical works at customer sites, mainly on turbomachinery equipment
•To create a comprehensive customer report outlining all site activities including, observations, recommendations and actions. Handover certificate and complete check sheets are mandatory
•Capable to perform mechanical duties involved with disassembly, inspection, maintenance repair, modification and reassembly for turbo compressors, and related equipment with the highest quality standards as per OEM
•Carry out assembly preparation for upcoming service assignments, e.g. identify spare parts requirements for maintenance of activities, special tools, checking commissioned spare parts for completeness, allocation and correctness
•Determine assembly procedures on site in accordance with the specified work documents. Thereby be technical contact person within the group for employees with lower qualification and coach service technicians to carry out planning, maintenances and commissioning.
•Able to work on and offshore.
•Working knowledge of JC Turbomachinery products Couplings, Systems and Filtration
•Proven capability of training and mentoring new and existing engineers
•Able to define, create and implement a technical and or business report
•Able to travel globally
Qualifications
•Extensive, proven, and traceable gas seal field service installation experience
•Operational gas seal inspection and build hands on experience
•Capable of reading general assembly drawings
•Full driving license and capable of driving overseas
•Confident and able to deal with very challenging situations in a calm and credible manner.
•Experience with endoscopic inspections and techniques
•Practical experience with laser alignment is a plus
•Carry out alignment by using dial gauge indicators
•5+ years of related experience in the field of centrifugal compressors.
