Accounts Payable Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to join our client in the Shared Services - Finance Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, where you will manage end-to-end accounting, expense recognition, invoicing, cash application, and various reconciliations. You will also play a crucial role in enhancing standard financial procedures, preparing financial reports, and ensuring budgetary compliance. If you possess a strong understanding of IFRS & IPSAS, VAT laws in the UAE, and proficiency in finance software like SAP or Oracle, this could be your next career move.

Responsibilities:

• Perform end-to-end accounting including expense recognition, invoicing and cash application.
• Handle reconciliations of petty cash, corporate credit card (disbursements and replenishments), banks and various GL accounts.
• Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices with accurate PO / GL / Cost Centre / Projects codes.
• Perform petty cash and credit card transactions reconciliation monthly.
• Enhance the standard financial procedures of the department and oversee their execution.
• Prepare the financial reports of the zero-based budget.
• Coordinate continuously with procurement on annual contracts and new purchase orders.
• Perform an advisory role on all tax matters and ensure implementation of best practices.
• Review existing contracts, accounting systems and procedures.
• Assist rest of the finance team during the period of: month/year end reports, budgets and internal/external auditing.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience in Accounting/Finance.
• Experience in the Technology industry is preferred.
• Strong understanding of IFRS & IPSAS.
• Thorough understanding of VAT laws and its implementation in the UAE.
• Proficient user of finance software (SAP, Oracle).
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrate integrity, dependability and accountability.
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily supervision.
• Bachelor's in accounting, Finance, or similar discipline is a must.
• Advanced Accounting/Finance certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CMA, etc. are preferred.
