About The Role

We are seeking a Commercial Analyst to support the Sales/Business Development (BD) Function in the commercial and financial aspects of bids/proposals to the customers.

The role will report administratively to the Sales/BD function and functionally to the Finance function and may collaborate with other team members, including project managers and legal counsel.

Core responsibilities of this role involve analysing financial and contractual information, whetting the proposals to customers, assisting Sales/BD in contract negotiations with customers, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

The Commercial Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's competitiveness in the bidding process and contributes to the successful execution of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Bid Preparation: Collaborate with the Sales/BD Function and other cross-functional teams such as Technology, Delivery, Purchasing to review the bid proposals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the client's requirements and project scope. This includes reviewing financial estimates, cost models, and commercial terms.
  • Contract Review: Review, analyse, and assist Sales/BD in the negotiation of contractual terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Identify potential financial risks and work with legal teams tofinalize contract agreements that protect the interests of the organization.
  • Pricing Strategy: Assist in developing pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability, considering market conditions, costs, and potential risks associated with the project.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis of proposed projects, evaluating revenue projections, cost estimates, and potential cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate closely with the financial accounting team to ensure the accuracy of financial data and forecasting and for formulating the profit and loss account and cashflows for the project.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards throughout the bid preparation and project execution phases. Monitor compliance during project implementation and flag any potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify commercial and contractual risks associated with project bids and provide recommendations to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Client Relations: Collaborate with the Sales/BD team to maintain positive client relationships during the bidding process. Assist Sales/BD to respond to client queries regarding commercial aspects and contractual obligations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve bid and project processes, streamline workflows, and enhance the organization's overall bidding capabilities.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify potential business opportunities and improve the organization's competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business and Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in commercial and contract management, preferably in a project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and financial principles, including pricing models and cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with contract terms and conditions, legal aspects, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and utilize data effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability to handle multiple bids and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
