Applications Engineer (Drilling & Completions)

Job Summary

Acts as an interface between product engineering, field operations, sales, and supply chain to provide technical support, assistance in troubleshooting in routine and special product applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and applications engineering support for operations, sales, and product engineering by reviewing seat sizing for frac sleeves, frac scenarios, running torque and drag, tubing stress calculations, and well design.
• Participate in design reviews of new product designs presented by the product engineering group.
• Skilled in locating relevant supporting documentation (e.g. PIM’s, Running Procedures) for performing well installations using applicable and relevant databases.
• Develop technical proposals/well schematics, running procedures.
• Provide technical support to supply chain by verifying accuracy of orders.
• Write and present papers for professional engineering associations, e.g. SPE.
• Complete the training plan as set out for the position within company guidelines.
• Participate in failure investigations, root cause analyses, corrective and preventative actions.
• Perform client interface duties as required.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
• Participate in Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM implementation.
• Comply with all NOV company and HSE policies and procedures.

Educational Qulification & Experience Required

• Engineering Degree (Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
• 3-5 years related completions experience.
• Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point computer skills
• Strong knowledge of drilling and completion operations
• Working knowledge of field operations including, but not limited to frac sleeve completions, frac operations, toe valves, floatation collars, liner hangers, packers, and other completion equipment and applications.
• Has working knowledge of oilfield calculations including volumes, pressures, forces, and advanced hydraulics. Able to perform basic tubing movement calculations.
• Has working knowledge of torque & drag calculations as applied to liner hangers and lower completion equipment including frac sleeves.
