- KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee time and cost budgets inclusive of initial set up with the direction of the senior project management team.
- Demonstrative capability in project controls (scheduling, cost reporting, forecasting, variation management etc)
- Monitoring and evaluating project performance in line with time and budgetary constraints.
- Communicating project performance results with the project management team.
- Managing changes in project processes to resolve identified shortcomings in operational methods.
- Plan and coordinate the resources for each job including inputs from other offices, sub consultants and other suppliers, and manage all jobs to deliver them on time, within the budget.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Lead the coordination process with other disciplines.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
- Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
- Advise the project manager of any technical aspects of the architectural work that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
- Continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works.
- Hands on in monitoring the interior architectural works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
- Reviewing, and processing all interior shop drawings and architectural technical submittals.
- Answering RFIs related to interior and architecture.
- Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
- Review Contractor's installation method statements.
- Review Contractor's shop drawings against the design [tender] drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments / approval.
- Review contractor's shop drawing in conjunction with other engineering disciplines to ensure co-ordination and advise project manager accordingly.
- Review Contractor's material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
- Review Contractor's proposed sub contractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
- Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
- Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
- Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
- Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
- Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
- Prepare draft site / engineer's instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
- Provide advice to the Project Manager in regard to any variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
- Oversee junior architects and inspectors for all archtiectural work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
- Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
- Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
- Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work.
- Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required to support juniors.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Degree in Architecture or related field.
- Min of 8-10 years postgraduate experience and a min. of 5 years of similar work experience on large projects; minimum of 5 years experience in project management and / or project controls.
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to resolve design issues on site.
- Computer proficiency is required; Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup or 3D MAX, Photoshop, MS project or Primavera, Power Point and basic office suite.
- Good knowledge of the building codes.
- Authority registration is preferred.
- A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
- UAE Driving Licence
- Experience in report generation and discussions / presentations of the same with management and team members.
- An understanding of earned value management and the associated reporting indices and methods.
- Planning experience and a proven ability in using Primavera P6 to create internal design programmes and to assist in review / analysis of construction programmes.
- Experience using Microsoft Project is helpful
- Experience in coordination with the other multi-discipline project teams, clients, subcontractors and other suppliers;
- Strong eye for detail coupled with a methodical and organized approach;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills will be well utilized and your ability to develop internal and external working relationships is essential.
- Strong design and project management skills to include all phases of production.
- Pro-active in resolving issues.
- LEED certification preferred.
- Good communications skill & relationship building.
- Good team player, systemic and organized, innovative & problem solving.
- Flexible and adaptable to different types of projects or teams
- Able to communicate his ideas effectively to the team and other disciplines.
- Is able to make design decisions and supervise.
