We are seeking a skilled Assistant Resident Engineer with over 8 years of experience, including at least 4 years in the UAE, to support a critical underground utilities infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. This position is a 6-month contract assignment, with the possibility of reassignment to other projects after completion, though no guarantees can be made. The Assistant Resident Engineer will work under the supervision of the Resident Engineer to ensure the successful execution of all project activities related to underground utilities, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Your new role, what's involved?
- Support Project Execution: Assist the Resident Engineer in overseeing all on-site activities related to underground utilities infrastructure projects (e.g., water, drainage, sewage, and electrical networks), ensuring they are executed as per project specifications, schedules, and safety standards.
- Daily Site Supervision: Monitor construction activities, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Support the review of contractors’ work and provide technical guidance on-site.
- Quality Control: Conduct inspections and checks on-site to ensure the quality of construction work is up to standard. Help resolve technical issues and suggest corrective measures where necessary.
- Coordination & Communication: Facilitate communication between the project team, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth progress and timely resolution of any issues. Assist in preparing and maintaining progress reports for the Resident Engineer.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site. Assist in conducting safety audits and reporting any non-compliance to the Resident Engineer.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of site activities, progress reports, daily logs, and other necessary documentation. Assist with monitoring and tracking project milestones and ensuring that required paperwork is updated regularly.
- Material & Resource Management: Support in monitoring the delivery and use of materials on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications. Help track material inventory and assist with resolving any supply chain issues.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Assist in identifying and resolving construction or technical issues in a timely manner, minimizing delays and ensuring project continuity.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Work closely with subcontractors to ensure the quality and timely execution of underground utilities installation activities. Review subcontractor work and assist in quality checks.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
- Experience:
- Over 8 years of professional engineering experience in underground utilities infrastructure projects.
- At least 4 years of experience working in the UAE, specifically on projects related to underground utilities (e.g., water, drainage, sewage, electrical networks).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of underground utilities installation methods, materials, and techniques. Familiarity with site supervision practices and quality control protocols.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to assist with project scheduling, coordination, and resource management. Familiar with project management tools and methods.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and clients.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Understanding of UAE health, safety, and environmental regulations in construction projects, especially those related to underground works.
- Proficiency in Software: Experience with construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is an advantage.
