The purpose of this role is to support business development and growth by underwriting new and renewal business, ensuring profitability within the assigned portfolio. This role involves building relationships with customers, making sound underwriting decisions, and acting as a subject matter expert within the designated territory.

Underwriting Team – Automotive Protection, Affinity Insurance
We have an exciting opportunity to join our successful and growing Automotive Protection Underwriting team, based in Dubai. Our AP offering provides affinity insurance solutions in the automotive and finance sectors on an international scale, leading book of business with a broad appetite and multiple well-establish client relationships. We work with clients in the global automotive sector, working with vehicle manufacturers and financial institutions, offering bespoke, high quality insurance products that enhance our client’s brand loyalty and boost long-term revenue. Focusing on developing new business and supporting existing clients, you will help build out our Dubai and nearby region offerings, working alongside an experienced and supportive team.

Your new role
- Underwrite business within personal underwriting authority to deliver Business Plan objectives
- Participate in all relevant meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
- Perform underwriting duties in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements and Automotive Protection Underwriting procedures
- Negotiate rates and terms and conditions for existing and new business
- Support/Build Client Distribution & Engagement Plans in conjunction with the Market Management Team
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including customers, clients, brokers, business partners and colleagues that leverage QBE’s proposition as the most consistent and innovative risk partner
- Collaborate with the wider regional teams to deliver cross class client solutions and engagement
- Work with other functions within the business to deliver customer focused solutions, including Legal, Compliance, Claims, Operations and Market Management
- An interest in the market trends in the global automotive industry
- Good relationship management through interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your tasks to gain maximum outcome
- Innovation in your underwriting approach and programme design, along with an open mindset to be able to adapt and grow with the ever-changing market
- Use of risk profiling, pricing tools and loss models along with the ability to analyse data and use this data for decision-making
- A knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
