RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Theatre Technician to join our creative arts department. The successful candidate will provide technical support for all productions, performances, and events in the school’s theatre, ensuring smooth and professional execution. This role will involve managing all technical aspects of lighting, sound, set design, and AV equipment, as well as the booking system for the auditorium and dance spaces. You will work closely with students, staff, and external partners to ensure that our creative arts facilities run efficiently and to a high professional standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate, maintain, and repair lighting, sound, and AV equipment for school productions, assemblies, and other events.
• Provide technical support for rehearsals, performances, and events in the theatre, including set-up and take-down of equipment.
• Collaborate with the creative arts department on set designs and other technical requirements for performances.
• Ensure all equipment and theatre spaces comply with health and safety regulations.
• Train and support students in the safe use of theatre equipment as part of their creative learning.
• Maintain and update inventory of technical equipment.
• Manage the booking system for the school’s auditorium and dance spaces, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely scheduling of events.
• Liaise with external hires and coordinate technical support for community events hosted in the theatre.
  
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualifications or experience in theatre production and technical support.
• Experience in an educational setting is advantageous.
  
  
  

Minimum Experience

• Strong technical knowledge and experience in theatre lighting, sound, AV equipment, and stage management.
• Experience in working in a theatre or educational environment.
  
  
  

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Fluent English communication skills, written and oral.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a theatre setting.
• Proficient in managing booking systems and coordinating space usage.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on technical equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events and priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners
