We are seeking an experienced Building Inspector to join our Built Asset Consulting team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, with experience in the UAE highly desirable.
As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for supporting the inspection, evaluation, and reporting of buildings and construction projects, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Under the guidance of senior surveyors and project managers, you will assist in conducting building surveys, defect analysis, and maintenance planning, all while developing your professional expertise within the field.
Additionally, you will contribute to delivering expert advice to clients in both the commercial and residential sectors, including services related to technical due diligence, Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) reporting, repairs and refurbishments, lifecycle costing, and reinstatement cost assessments.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting site inspections and building surveys to assess the condition of structures and their compliance with building regulations and safety standards.
- Support the preparation of detailed reports on building conditions, identifying defects, and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
- Assist in monitoring and assessing the progress of construction projects to ensure their alignment with approved plans and specifications.
- Support with the inspection of structural elements, finishes, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) systems, including HVAC (Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning), under the supervision of senior surveyors.
- Perform a variety of technical surveying functions, including RERA reports (Reserve Fund Study, Cost Allocation and Building Condition Audit reports), measured surveys, technical due diligence, project payment verifications and document audits.
- Assist in preparing schedules of condition, maintenance plans, defect reports and lifecycle costing reports.
- Stay updated on local building codes, standards, and construction regulations to ensure the most accurate and relevant advice is provided.
- Continuously enhance technical knowledge and understanding of surveying techniques, methodologies, and software.
- Undertake a diverse range of building inspection duties across the UAE and GCC region.
- Represent the company professionally and diligently, engaging with clients to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree or a related field within the industry.
- Understanding of fundamental building construction principles and building codes, particularly in the Middle East.
- Extensive experience in Mechanical and Electrical (MEP) services.
- Basic knowledge of property measurements and valuations, with the ability to read and interpret architectural plans and technical documents.
- Proficient in IT, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and software packages including AutoCAD.
- A valid UAE driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Strong attention to detail, with a keen interest in identifying building defects and potential issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills within the building surveying profession, with the capacity to work under supervision and gradually assume greater responsibility.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks efficiently to ensure all deadlines are met.
