  • The Business Applications Manager will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization's critical business systems.
  • This role is pivotal in ensuring that systems supporting key business functions-such as savings/retirement administration, payroll, and financial operations-operate efficiently and effectively.
  • The Manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure all systems align with the strategic and operational goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of core applications, ensuring system availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of core business applications, including design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Provide leadership for a team responsible for system administration, development, and support of core applications.
  • Ensure core business application modules (Active Member Management, Entity Management, Contribution Management, Termination Management, Customer Service, etc.) are meeting the business's evolving needs. It is built on top of Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premise.
  • Management of Oracle EBS modules such as Financial Management (including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable), Payroll, SCM and Accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including HR, Finance, and Pension Services, to understand their requirements and ensure the core systems support those needs efficiently.
  • Lead system enhancements, upgrades, and continuous improvements, including ensuring compliance with new regulations and changes in pension laws.
  • Manage the integration of core applications with other enterprise systems to support seamless business operations.
  • Oversee the resolution of system bugs and issues as part of the core business application initiative and ensure that the necessary enhancements are implemented.
  • Monitor and manage system performance, proactively identifying potential issues and addressing them before they impact business operations.
  • Collaborate with the IT infrastructure and service delivery teams to ensure high availability and security of core applications.
  • Develop strategies to improve the user experience and functionality of core applications, focusing on scalability and efficiency.
  • Lead and manage vendor relationships, particularly for ongoing maintenance and support of core applications.
  • Provide clear reporting and communication to senior leadership regarding the performance of core applications, including regular status updates, risk assessments, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Define and implement SLAs, monitor performance metrics, and conduct regular reviews to ensure service quality.
  • Establish structured processes for managing changes to applications, including documentation and impact assessments and coordinate application releases, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Implement proactive problem management processes to identify root causes and develop long-term solutions.
  • Audit Engagements: Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements, providing necessary documentation and access to systems.
  • Ensure that the team maintains a focus on ITSM principles, including continual service improvement and user satisfaction.

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on core business applications, guiding both the team and stakeholders in best practices and strategic application management.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovation in how core applications are managed and optimized.
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures for the use of core systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process by identifying areas where technology can improve business operations and drive innovation within core functions.
  • Ensure the team stays updated with the latest trends in business applications and recommend new solutions or features that can enhance the organization's operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience managing business-critical applications, including Oracle EBS and custom enterprise solutions.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex system implementations and upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of financial, payroll, and pension management systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM development skills, including customization, configuration, and CRM-specific programming languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management and leading application enhancements in a dynamic environment.
