Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Chief Surveyor to join our team! In this role, you will collaborate closely with the construction supervision team to oversee the contractor’s work such as supervision of road construction, road widening, junction upgrades, and the relocation or protection of existing utilities on a prestigious project in Abu Dhabi.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Responsible to carry out the hydrographic field surveys in tandem with a team, and dredging/reclamation contractor and prepare as built drawings and GIS
  • Responsible to conduct field operations/surveys on land and on existing utilities.
  • Responsible to witness contractor performing surveys, logging the information and verifying the installed quantities in coordination with the contractor, employer and quantity surveyors on the team.
  • Responsible to identify the client’s priority zones on the critical path and update progress reports daily. Must maintain Daily Log of all Activities.
  • Troubleshoot challenges with the Contractor and other Consultants in order to achieve measurable success.
  • Liaise with other agencies (Consultants/Contractors/ Relevant Authorities) to coordinate the survey work.
  • Prepare neat sketches to support the field work.
  • Preserve all the survey information (field books, sketches & calculations).
  • Complete all surveying assignments on schedule and within man-hour and cost budgets.
  • Liaise with the technical team to verify the shop drawings, measurements sheets, profiles and road x-sections.
  • Follow up with the consultant land surveyor the surveys reports taken during the construction and the submitted by the contractor.


What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Degree/Diploma in Survey Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in infrastructure projects such as roads, landscape and marine engineering/construction environment in the MENA Region.
  • Ability to communicate in English with a high proficiency both written and spoken.
  • Prior Experience on a Construction Supervision Consultant Team or Project Management Consultant Team.
  • Proficiency using a variety of tools and equipment, ranging from sonar systems to computers and peripherals, GPS, sampling equipment and deck equipment.
  • Proficiency to use AutoCAD / Civil 3D, MS Office, and other relevant surveying software required to complete the works
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Civil3D, AutoCAD, GPS, Office 365, MBES (Multibeam Echo Sound) Software (Hydrographic Survey software) and Single Beam.
