Overview

We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure CloudOps Database Engineer to design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure database services, performance tuning, automation, and security best practices. This role will focus on ensuring database availability, reliability, and scalability while optimizing performance and supporting cloud operations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain Azure database solutions, including Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Automate database administration tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or similar.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions using Azure SQL Managed Instance, geo-replication, and backup strategies.
• Implement and maintain database security best practices, including encryption, access control, and threat protection.
• Monitor database health and performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and failures.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support DevOps pipelines and database deployments.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2 for data protection and security.
• Maintain comprehensive database documentation, policies, and operational procedures.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in database engineering or administration with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong expertise in Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or similar.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Strong understanding of database security principles, identity management, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with high-availability architectures and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong written and verbal English skills are required for effective communication and collaboration.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially for database performance and security issues.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across multiple departments.
• Ability to document procedures, policies, and technical solutions effectively.
• Proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
• Experience with multi-cloud database strategies, including Azure and OCI.
• Familiarity with containerized database solutions and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and database service management best practices.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and big data solutions.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL, and analytics solutions in Azure.
