Job Description

Support the implementation of Canon EMEA’s sustainability strategy at the local level, with a focus on environmental compliance, product safety & certification, and other sustainability related initiatives.

Assist in the delivery of local activities related to environmental management systems (ISO14001), product safety, waste and chemicals compliance, and contribute to wider social and educational sustainability activities under the guidance and management of the Sustainability Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with RSHQ, relevant local departments, Canon Inc and external partners, oversee and monitor the implementation of local compliance delivery in relation to product safety, environment & waste and chemicals.
  • Manage relevant compliance and reporting requirements in relation to local warehouse operations. Ensure a timely homologation process, including securing product test reports, certifications and pre-shipment inspections, including liaising with external auditors during inspections and certification processes.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 certification and demonstrating continuous improvement for sites determined by CINC and RSHQ. This includes overseeing all relevant communication, training, data and document management, and auditing requirements. Work with local teams to ensure risks of non-conformity are successfully controlled.
  • Collate and report local environmental performance data as necessary, and support RSHQ’s monitoring of suppliers’ adherence to Canon’s Green Procurement standard.
  • As required, provision of bid support and training to sales teams and managing ongoing customer requests for sustainability information; tracking trends and collecting data on customer demands on sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in sustainability, environmental management, product safety and compliance or similar
  • Experience of managing sustainability compliance and certification issues with a good understanding of product safety and other environmental regulations and standards.
  • Experience in building strong, collaborative business relationships to influence sustainable change and drive delivery sustainability programs.
  • Knowledge and experience in Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) including local implementation and management within a large multi-site organization.
  • Experience working in consumer and/or business services, manufacturing and technology.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, product safety, or sustainability roles.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and other environmental management systems.
