Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and board-certified Consultant Hematologist with a dedicated focus in Transfusion Medicine to join a prestigious tertiary-care center in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic services in hematological disorders and oversee safe, efficient transfusion practices in alignment with national and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage patients with benign and malignant hematological conditions (e.g., anemia, leukemias, lymphomas, coagulopathies)
  • Supervise and optimize blood bank operations and transfusion protocols, including compatibility testing and inventory management
  • Lead apheresis, plasma exchange, and cellular therapy services (if applicable)
  • Guide clinical staff on transfusion guidelines and support management of transfusion reactions
  • Collaborate closely with laboratory medicine, oncology, and bone marrow transplant teams
  • Participate in hematopathology consultations and interface with external reference laboratories
  • Contribute to CME activities, mentorship programs, and quality assurance initiatives within the hospital
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with SCFHS and MOH regulatory frameworks

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent), with completed residency in Internal Medicine or Pathology
  • Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Hematology and/or Transfusion Medicine
  • Board-certified (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, Canadian FRCP, Arab Board, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, including recent consultant-level practice
  • Eligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Consultant classification
  • Proficient in English (Arabic is a plus)

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with stem cell transplantation, immunohematology, or hemovigilance systems
  • Strong leadership in blood bank operations or transfusion committee experience
  • Commitment to safe transfusion practices and transfusion medicine education
  • Proven excellence in multidisciplinary collaboration and diagnostic accuracy
