Role Summary
The Consultant Medical Director (Surgical) will serve as the clinical and strategic leader for surgical services across the hospital or healthcare network. This dual-role position combines active surgical practice with executive oversight, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, clinical quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership for all surgical departments, including general surgery, subspecialties, and perioperative services.
Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, and risk management across surgical units.
Lead strategic planning and implementation of surgical service line improvements.
Maintain an active clinical practice in a surgical specialty, balancing leadership with hands-on care.
Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, resource allocation, and workforce planning.
Drive innovation in surgical techniques, patient pathways, and digital health integration.
Mentor consultants, specialists, and junior staff; foster a culture of continuous learning.
Ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations and international accreditation standards (e.g., JCI).
Qualifications & Experience
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Board Certification in a surgical specialty (e.g., General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic, etc.).
Minimum 8–10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or directorial role.
Proven track record in hospital operations, clinical governance, and strategic planning.
DHA eligibility or license as a Consultant.
Advanced degree in healthcare management (MBA, MHA) is a strong asset.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
