About The Role
The Global Director of Security, Safety, and Resilience leads the strategy, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive programs to safeguard the people, guests, assets, and reputation of Kerzner International globally. This role ensures that all properties operate to the highest standards of safety, security, emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, and business continuity, while protecting guest privacy and supporting the brand’s commitment to exceptional experiences.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Strategy, Standards, and Governance
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance global security, safety, and emergency management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Establish and oversee crisis management frameworks, including Emergency Response, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery plans.
- Define minimum security and safety standards for all properties and ensure consistent application across geographies and operating models.
- Lead global risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities and proactively develop mitigation plans.
Operational Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure property compliance with all relevant local and international health, safety, and security regulations, certifications (ISO 22000, ISO 45001), and licensing requirements.
- Oversee the implementation and auditing of life safety systems, including fire safety, aquatic safety, and medical response capabilities.
- Monitor the performance and readiness of security technologies and systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, satellite communications).
Guest and Colleague Safety
- Protect guest and colleague privacy and security, ensuring secure environments in accommodations, public spaces, and colleague facilities.
- Oversee crisis response to incidents impacting guests or colleagues, coordinating with property leadership, authorities, and the Kerzner leadership team.
- Develop, implement, and oversee security protocols for VIP and high-profile guests.
Risk Mitigation & Emergency Preparedness
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of comprehensive risk mitigation strategies to proactively reduce threats to guests, colleagues, assets, and brand reputation.
- Oversee property-level and enterprise-wide risk assessments, hazard identification, and vulnerability analysis.
- Design and implement emergency preparedness programs, including evacuation procedures, medical readiness, and critical infrastructure protection.
- Ensure that emergency plans are integrated across business functions and adapted to local regulations and property-specific risk profiles.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and escalation protocols for all emergency scenarios (natural disasters, fire, terrorism, public health emergencies).
Crisis Management & Response
- Serve as the global lead for all crisis management activities, coordinating a unified response across properties and corporate teams during incidents.
- Chair the Crisis Management Committee and ensure alignment with Kerzner’s business continuity and recovery objectives.
- Oversee the creation, deployment, and maintenance of crisis communication plans, including internal notifications, media statements, and guest advisories.
- Lead post-incident reviews, debriefs, and root cause analyses, developing actionable lessons learned and improvement plans.
- Ensure that crisis management capabilities are regularly tested through scenario-based exercises and simulation drills, with results informing policy updates and training.
Training, Awareness, and Culture
- Lead training programs to embed a culture of safety, security, and resilience, including scenario-based exercises and ongoing awareness campaigns.
- Coach and develop property-based Directors of Security, fostering consistent leadership capability across all locations.
- Guide teams in the application of best practices in occupational health and safety, food safety, and security operations.
Stakeholder & External Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international law enforcement, emergency services, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for owners and key partners on security, safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Support risk engineering surveys, insurance claims, and strategic planning to mitigate liabilities and optimize coverage.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Leverage emerging technologies and intelligence to enhance the effectiveness of security and safety measures.
- Implement data-driven reporting and performance dashboards to track compliance, incident trends, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with IT and Technical Services teams to integrate security infrastructure in all new developments and renovations.
