About The Role
The Director, Sustainability develops and executes Kerzner International’s Global Sustainability strategy, ensuring a formal framework is established and driving its integration across all aspects of operations, reinforcing the group’s commitment to environmental sustainability, social impact, and strong governance principles. The Director, Sustainability plays a fundamental role in engagement with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, partners, industry, owners and developers, inspiring colleagues and the network of resorts (One&Only, Rare Finds and SIRO) and guests. The role is critical in pushing forward its sustainability efforts internally and externally, driving positive impact and creating value for its brands, partners, guests and colleagues.

About The Role
The Director, Sustainability develops and executes Kerzner International’s Global Sustainability strategy, ensuring a formal framework is established and driving its integration across all aspects of operations, reinforcing the group’s commitment to environmental sustainability, social impact, and strong governance principles. The Director, Sustainability plays a fundamental role in engagement with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, partners, industry, owners and developers, inspiring colleagues and the network of resorts (One&Only, Rare Finds and SIRO) and guests. The role is critical in pushing forward its sustainability efforts internally and externally, driving positive impact and creating value for its brands, partners, guests and colleagues.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive sustainability strategy tailored to the requirements of our luxury hospitality brand and embed it across the business.
- Establish clear goals and objectives to advance sustainable practices and responsible business initiatives throughout the organization and with our network of resorts.
- Identify the sustainability issues that have the greatest impact across our business and develop our global program of initiatives to minimize our environmental footprint.
- Develop a detailed set of sustainability targets for the business and resorts, oversee the adoption and implementation with clear KPIs and measurements.
- Oversee the development and implementation of social impact programs that positively contribute to the local communities where Kerzner International operates properties (One&Only, SIRO and Rare Finds), promote diversity and inclusion, and enhance the well-being of our employees and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with resort teams to create volunteering opportunities and partnerships that align with our luxury hospitality brand values and are adapted to each location and culture.
- Champion strong governance practices, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance on ethical business conduct and drive the integration of ESG principles into our framework.
- Be an important member of the leadership team, engaging and influencing cross functionally, whilst working closely with the Sustainability Committee as a key member.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including industry associations, investors, regulatory bodies, and NGOs.
- Engage with relevant coalitions that are driving meaningful impact, and act as the company's spokesperson for Sustainability and ESG initiatives, representing Kerzner International at relevant industry forums, conferences, and events to drive thought leadership and promote our sustainability agenda.
- Working with Kerzner’s VP of Global Communications to develop content for external communication plans, establishing Kerzner International’s position on sustainability, advancing our thought leadership.
- Act as a spokesperson on sustainability for the business and advise on all Executive messaging.
- Advise and engage with leaders across the company as a go-to resource for sustainability trends, innovation and thought partnership.
- Support the education and engagement through content approaches, empowering leaders and colleagues at every level, embedding a culture of sustainability and social responsibility throughout the organization.
- Develop training programs and internal communication campaigns to raise awareness and educate colleagues on Sustainability and ESG principles, goals, and initiatives.
- Develop consistent and coherent messaging to be used internally and externally with partners, embedding sustainability into the business, and ensuring sustainability literacy across the organization within the Kerzner corporate office and each resort.
- Ensure accurate and transparent reporting of ESG performance indicators, adhering to internationally recognized reporting frameworks.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive ESG reports to board members, investors, and rating agencies on behalf of Kerzner International.
- Work closely with our properties and partners to ensure the accurate and transparent reporting of their ESG performance indicators agreed in their KPIs
- Develop and oversee the implementation and roll out of Kerzner’s sustainability standards for its existing portfolio of properties, resorts, future openings, development pipeline and partners – ensure these are embedded in all contractual obligations with owners and developers.
- Identify and assess ESG-related risks and opportunities that could impact our brand reputation, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk mitigation strategies and integrate ESG considerations into decision-making processes.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred. Sustainability and responsibility management certifications are beneficial.
- A self-starter who is proactive and passionate about creating change with a proven track record of developing, executing and implementing a sustainability strategy across a business in a senior management role (10+ years of experience)
- Expertise in ESG frameworks, and related reporting guidelines with a deep understanding of the global, regional and local ESG/Sustainability and Decarbonization standards. Proven track record of creating and implementing an ESG framework in a business.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental sustainability practices, including energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable procurement.
- Familiarity with social impact initiatives, community engagement strategies, and diversity and inclusion programs.
- Strong understanding of governance principles, ethics, and compliance
- Experience in strategy development
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to engage, inspire and influence diverse audiences at different levels of the organisation and externally.
- Analytical mindset and ability to derive actionable insights from ESG data and performance metrics.
- Demonstrated experience in working with multiple stakeholders to successfully execute action plans and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently with clear milestones and KPIs.
- Passion for sustainability and making a positive impact in the industry and planet.
