Electrical Technician (Manufacturing)

Job Summary.

NOV Wellsite Services is currently looking for an Electrical Technician to join our manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The main responsibility of this role is to performs electrical installation on Solid Control Equipments through use of drawings, schematics and interpretation/knowledge of applicable codes and safety regulations. Eligible to troubleshoot electrical problems along with the mechanical team.

Responsibilities/Accountabilty & Authority

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and wire schematics to determine work procedure.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring & equipments.
• Assemble and prepare electrical components.
• Set up and test units or subassemblies to required specifications.
• Competent in testing of AC and/or DC variable speed and variable frequency drive systems.
• Ensure equipment is operational and safe prior to final test.
• Low to medium voltage experience (120V to 690V).
• Must be able to use electrical instruments such as multimeter & insulation tester.
• Knowledgeable with industrial standards for electrical equipment and operation of generator controls.
• Ensure quality documents are completed in compliance with company procedures.
• Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
• Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  
  

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

• To follow the NOV HSE policy and procedures, safe system of work, local requirements.
• Use properly and maintain the tools and personal protective equipment provided by the company.
• Report unsafe acts & conditions, workplace incident to the supervisors & HSE dept.
• Follow instruction from supervisors. If in doubt, ask questions. Never commence work without ensuring that work can be done safely. Strictly observe “permit to work system.”
• Know emergency procedures (Emergency Numbers, Assembly point etc.)
• Attend Toolbox talks, HSE training and HSE meetings.
  
  

BEHAVIORAL & TECHINCAL COMPETENCIES

• Ability to read and understand drawings, bills of material, setup sheets, schematics, etc.
• Knowledge of electrical system parts and their function.
• Able to use and understand electrical instruments.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Can work well with others in a team and independently.
  
  

Education & Experience Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Electrical Wiring experience of 3-5 years on Mechanical Equipments is required
• Assembly Experience on Solid Control Equipments of 2 years is preferred.
