Job Summary:
EEG Technician work closely with, and under the supervision of the Neurologists and perform Electroencephalography, Nerve Conduction Studies (including Electromyography, Repetitive Nerve Stimulation), and Evoked Potential Studies.
Responsibilities:
- Practices proper entries and records on the Hospital Information System
- Well versed in preparing patients and recording high-quality EEG and nerve–muscle tracings, with the ability to detect and eliminate artifacts
- Possesses theoretical, technical, and practical knowledge of special EEG techniques, including photic stimulation, hyperventilation, adult and pediatric EEG montages, electrode pasting for long-term video EEG, ICU recordings, pediatric EEGs, pruning EEG videos, and identifying important electrographic events; as well as NCS procedures such as repetitive nerve stimulation, comparative nerve studies, and special nerve studies (e.g., blink reflex)
- Has the ability to perform or learn evoked potentials and intra-operative peripheral or brain surface recordings
- Cleans electrodes and machines and ensures proper storage
- Maintains equipment and performs minor adjustments when faults occur
- Maintains adequate stock of paper, electrodes, paste, jelly, EMG needles, and related supplies
- Ensures proper storage of all apparatus
- Maintains logbook records of EEG and EMG procedures
- Coordinates with colleagues to ensure smooth laboratory operations and emergency services when required
- Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, and cooperates with hospital management to meet these requirements
- Works in accordance with documented OSH procedures, instructions, and assigned responsibilities
- Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Reports OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, and assists with risk assessments and incident reports
- Complies with waste management policies and procedures
- Attends required OSH and infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness sessions
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
Education & Qualifications:
- College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent. Preferable to have MRI training of 2 years.
- A certificate/diploma holder in Neurotechnology
- At least two (2) years of experience.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
