The EMEA Franchise Lead Infectious Disease manages a team of EMEA Therapeutic Area Managers to drive commercial success across the EMEA region. As a core member of the EMEA Marketing Team, the role will interact closely with the EMEA Marketing Leadership team. Further, cross-functional teamwork with Commercial Leaders, Market Access, Medical and Scientific Affairs will be a focus, and continuous improvement and representation of the portfolio strategy the main activity.
The EMEA Franchise Lead reports directly into the Marketing Director EMEA Infectious Disease, and acts as a strategic partner to the EMEA leadership team. The primary responsibility of the EMEA Franchise Lead is to manage the team of Therapeutic Area Managers, to develop the franchise strategies, the portfolio positioning and according value propositions in close collaboration with global and regional cross-functional teams. Next to the proven marketing excellence, a thorough understanding of the EMEA in-vitro diagnostic markets, customer behaviors, clinical pathways and funding, next to the company’s product offering is paramount. Strong leadership skills are augmenting the profile.
What You'll Do
Manage, lead, develop and monitor a team of EMEA Therapeutic Area Managers to drive Abbott´s Rapid Diagnostics business in EMEA
Develop concepts & frameworks to capture and convey portfolio strategies, value proposition and tactics, and optimize portfolio mix for EMEA region and on local level.
Develop portfolio strategy and positioning in collaboration with the Global Strategic Marketing team, adapted to the EMEA region and transform strategy to commercial success.
Improve portfolio reasons to believe, and to integrate these into strategy, tactics and actions: work in project and transversal mode with the sales, medical & scientific affairs, market access, customer service, finance, logistics and Global & European marketing teams
Develop internal and external agencies ecosystems and work styles with the global and EMEA team to transform the value propositions into customer focused messaging and according assets. Supervise development, adaption and tailoring of marketing communication assets and narrative as a foundation for sales and marketing campaigns.
Develop business case concepts and frameworks to be used by Therapeutic Area Manager- and other EMEA teams
Develop working mechanisms and tools to partner with global and regional training teams.
Closely collaborate with regional commercial leadership and commercial excellence functions to plan and execute commercial effectiveness
Represent EMEA portfolio strategies on a global and executive level
Guide regional commercial and marketing teams to create commercial- and brand plans in alignment with global Marketing Plans and Strategic Pillars.
Plan and execute market analysis and surveys in collaboration with Global Market Insights functions; use knowledge to improve portfolio strategy and value propositions.
Develop tools to gain customer and competitor insights and improve portfolio value and positioning in collaboration with the market insights team. Actively propose corrective actions to improve business outcomes.
Supervise KOL, association and strategic account engagement and focus group strategy
Show high level of business acumen, define and track actionable business metrics and actively propose actions to maximize the impact of the portfolio. Identify opportunities and risks early to adjust commercial activities proactively.
Act as consulting portfolio subject matter expert to define pricing strategies and pricing models
Collaborate with Global Strategic Marketing in up-stream product development and design phases to match future product to EMEA market needs.
Partner with Launch Excellence Lead and chaperone EMEA product launches and provide product positioning, strategy and launch assets during pre- & post launch window.
Collaborate with regional and global cross-functional teams to build and improve relationship with clinical experts and opinion leaders
Act as key stakeholder for long-term portfolio and business planning
Customer Centricity: gain and use deep understanding of perceived portfolio values, clinical pathways and funding streams. Collaborate with global Customer Centricity Steward to integrate goals and metrics.
Participation to ad-hoc special projects (regional / global)

Required Qualifications:
At least 13+ years industry experience with ideally 10+ years of experience in in vitro Diagnostics marketing functions or similar.
Proven strong marketing capabilities, toolkits and experience
Proven knowledge of international product management, both up-stream - but more critically important - down-stream and commercially focused.
At least 5+ years of proven team-leadership success, with strengths in both strategic and tactical team management
Familiarity with infectious diseases and according clinical guidelines and decision pathways strongly preferred. Deep insights respiratory- and sexual transmitted diseases are considered an asset.
High level of comfort interpreting and communicating complex technical information, including clinical concepts, statistics and outcomes

Required background & expertise
BA/BS in Marketing, Business, and/or Biological Science or related field, any higher qualification is considered as a strong asset.
Proven ability to deliver goals in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
Proven ability to effectively communicate & collaborate with all key stakeholders at higher and lower reporting levels
IT/office Tools, use of core functional processes (e.g. Outlook, CRM software, SAP, Concur, Workday, WebEx or equivalent), Salesforce. Com and PowerBI knowledge is considered an asset
Proficiency in spoken and written English, additional language skills are considered an asset
