A Consulting Services Company specialising in Upstream Oil and Gas seek a Geophysical Seismic Interpreter to work at an Oil Operator Site in UAE on a minimum 9 Months contract. Applicants are invited with 15+ years’ hands on geophysical carbonate interpretation experience. The project will initially be for a period of 9 months but could be extended. The Company will organise all logistics such as work permits and travel.

Some Background - The Oil Operator has embarked on a number of activities including Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) and have successfully accomplished major milestone in this regard. They envisage a strong growth in CO2 transport and geological sequestration activities. This growth can support oil and gas production, enhancing business sustainability with low carbon advantages. From the downstream sector, there are already plans in place for low carbon hydrogen etc.. In many cases, CO2 geological sequestration is the most attractive technology to enable the capturing of large volumes of CO2 over such downstream projects lifecycle. The Operator is currently focused on developing deep saline aquifer CO2 Sequestration Development Plan (SDP) and hence the need for this position




Responsibilities
The candidate will provide consultancy services in the following areas:

• Working at the Oil Company site - provide geological services during normal working hours from Monday - Friday.
• Seismic interpretation (3D & 2D data), horizon picking, attribute analyses, interpretation data QC, structural mapping of complex carbonate, characterization and mapping of fault & fractures at reservoir levels, QI for reservoir characterization, generation of time and depth grids at different reservoir levels, generation of synthetics, Handling of Pre-stack/Post-stack data and seismic inversion.
• DAS and micro-seismic interpretation an advantage.
• Active and regular interaction with Reservoir Geologist, Operation Geologist, Reservoir Engineers, Log Analyst.
• Appraisal well/program input
• Participate in SDP development (Sequestration Development Plan)
• Project Deliverables include:
• Perform technical studies in support of CO2 sequestration exploration/appraisal.
• Well prognoses, well drilling and completion follow up; well program completion.
• Prepare and submit Sequestration Development Plan(s) (including models, sequestration scenarios, MMV, Risk Assessment etc)

Preferences
The successful candidate will have:

• Degree in Geophysics or Earth Science related subject essential. MSc or higher desired.
• Strong geophysical interpretation background essential.
• A minimum 15 years of relevant hands-on carbonate experience essential
• Preferably both regional and local scale, model development under carbonate platforms an advantage;
• CCS knowledge an advantage
• Exploration and reservoir appraisal experience an advantage.
• Oil and gas FDP experience an advantage.
• Good industry software skills essential – Petrel a major advantage.
• Good team player.
• Good report writing skills.
• Previous experience in the Middle East advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal skills –ability to relay technical knowledge and concepts in a coherent and friendly manner.
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English essential. Arabic advantageous.
