On behalf of our client in the United Arab Emirates, we are looking for a skilled Ground Segment Expert to join our organisation in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. This remarkable role offers a unique opportunity to work on several exciting projects in the region.

The Ground Segment Expert will be responsible for working in an open, collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, in active cooperation with other staff of our client organization and government entities, as well as in cooperation with industry and research communities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Managing ground segment end-to-end system requirements definition, adaptation/development, qualification and operation, including satellite and payload-related interface specifications in coordination with the satellite and payload technical teams.
  • Support with the preparation and evaluation of industrial procurements.
  • Monitoring industrial activities related to the procurement of ground segment infrastructure (operation centres and payload data ground segment) and associated detailed design and build-up phases.
  • Support the assessment of the performance of the ground infrastructure industrial contractors, through the review of the relevant KPIs and deliverables, and propose actions and improvements to address issues and opportunities.
  • Managing ground segment system engineering and performances, including Mission and Spacecraft Control Centres for LEOP, in-orbit operations, mission operations simulator, ground stations, telemetry kits, and the communication network.
  • Managing ground segment end-to-end system manufacturing, assembly, integration, and verification, including integrated system testing.
  • Managing ground segment aspects concerning end-to-end system AIT assembly, integration, and testing activities, in coordination with the AIT Lead and Space Segment Manager.
  • Prepare and support the deployment of ground infrastructure.
  • Managing ground segment specific refurbishment, operability, and maintainability aspects.
  • Contribute to the analysis, investigations, and resolution of system-level anomalies.

Specific Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 7 years in supporting the definition, development, verification, and validation of ground segments.
  • Solid understanding of individual ground segment component development and data quality monitoring.
  • Solid understanding of mission operations, including flight control and monitoring operations, payload command and control, and payload data acquisition, processing, archiving and distribution.
  • Experience with the commissioning phase.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Understanding of system engineering practices and processes.
  • Experience with SAR data processing is desirable.
  • Experience with the management of industrial contracts is desirable.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
