Group Head of Internal Audit in our office in Dubai
Responsibilities
- Define, oversee, and implement the global internal audit structure and framework for the Group, across all business lines and legal entities, considering local regulatory requirements.
- Build and lead a multi-disciplinary and global internal audit team, with a risk-based approach.
- Develop annual risk-based internal audit plans for the Group, ensuring alignment with local regulatory regulations.
- Lead the delivery of internal audits over the group’s governance, risk and internal control frameworks effectiveness.
- Oversee and ensure that internal audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the Group’s global internal audit standards, industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment
- Report to the Risk Committee and Audit Committee on the status of the internal audit plan, including information on key audit reports with high risk findings, and the status of management remediation action
- Provide specialist professional advice on audit findings and recommendations, and warrant prudent conformity and exposure levels, and timely follow-ups until recommendations are fully implemented.
- Coordinate work with all lines of defense, including external assurance providers.
- Conduct thematic reviews, audit inspections and investigations.
- Maintain effective communication with all levels of management, including group senior leadership and the Audit Committee, to foster a collaborative atmosphere
Skills & Competencies
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures and generally accepted auditing standards
- Results-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Seniority to engage with all levels of the organization
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related area of expertise
- Full professional accounting qualification
- Certified Internal Audit qualification(s) (e.g. CIA)
- 10+ years PQE with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial position (including holding previous head of internal audit role)
- Proven experience in global auditing in different jurisdictions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated experience in auditing in financial services companies.
