Job Summary
The Head of Supply will lead the supplier-facing side of the Watermelon Ecosystem, ensuring optimal product availability, competitive pricing, and margin contribution across all categories. This role requires a blend of supply management and supply leadership, focusing on gross margin optimization and commercial negotiations. Responsibilities include defining supply strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring supply-demand balance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, relevant F&B experience and a proven record in supplier negotiation and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement quarterly and annual supply strategies that expand assortment, improve supplier performance, and support overall marketplace growth.
- Guide category planning and supplier relationship management through the Category Managers and Supplier Relations teams, with an eye on product-market fit and margin contribution.
- Coordinate with the Head of Sales to ensure supply and demand are balanced, categories are buyer-relevant, and pricing strategies are aligned.
- Maintain strong communication and alignment with Operations to ensure fulfillment reliability and inventory readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply function to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and supplier experience.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in category management or supply management with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of B2B marketplaces, supplier-led fulfillment models, and digital procurement processes.
- Proven track record of negotiating and managing supplier relationships, with clear outcomes on growth, margin, or efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Ops.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using supplier data and category insights to inform strategy.
- E-commerce experience is a bonus
