The following is an overview of what would normally be associated with the position of Health Caregiver at NMC ProVita. Health Caregiver are required to adhere to all facility protocols, and regulations, maintain patient confidentiality, and act within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations and facility policies.

  • Health Caregiver are responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, and feeding under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Assist manual handling tasks such as patient transfers and mobility, based on the caregiver’s level of competency and experience.
  • Assist in taking vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of licensed nurses and therapists, plays with pediatric patients where appropriate.
  • They must observe and promptly report any changes or concerns in patients’ conditions to the licensed nursing staff.
  • They are expected to support patients during physical, occupational, or speech therapy sessions, as directed.
  • They are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms and ensuring a safe environment conducive to patient recovery.
  • They should communicate effectively with patients and their families, provide emotional support, and relay pertinent information to the nursing staff.
  • Are responsible for ensuring that patients' rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and the medical equipment are cleaned appropriately.
  • Shall participate in patients' social activities to promote Quality of life in patients we serve.
  • Shall participate in social activities with patients to enhance the patient’s quality of life.
  • Shall support patients and their families by providing housekeeping, laundry services, food preparation, and running errands.
  • Initiate emergency assistance as per policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement.
