The HSE Engineer works across multiple departments, collaborating to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them. In addition, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that organizations comply with legal health, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of industry-specific regulations, and the ability to communicate effectively with different teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Identify potential workplace hazards and develop strategies to mitigate associated risks.
- Provide training and educational programs to employees on safety practices and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date records of health, safety, and environmental incidents and investigations.
- Collaborate with department managers to enhance safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Ensure that the workplace complies with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Advise management on upcoming changes in legislation and advise on required updates.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and present detailed reports related to safety and environmental metrics.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness within the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HSE engineering or related role.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve safety and environmental goals.
