Role Purpose

The IFRS Technical and Finance Specialist will be responsible for assessing and advising on complex financial transactions in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, experience in financial service industry, preferably developed through audit background, to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial reporting across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess accounting treatment of complex business transactions, contracts, and arrangements under IFRS.
  • Draft and review technical accounting position papers and memos on complex transactions.
  • Provide clear technical guidance to finance teams and business stakeholders on accounting implications of new investments.
  • Support with quarterly reporting requirements, specially in relation to financial investments tracking, updating NAVs based on received capital accounts and estimates.
  • Review investees financial statements and reporting packs.
  • Reconcile financial information between finance and operations systems to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting, including preparation and review of consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS.
  • Liaise with external auditors on areas involving technical accounting assessments and investment-related issues.
  • Coordinate with third-party appraisers and deal teams to support the valuation of direct equity investments.
  • Support the enhancement and maintenance of robust internal controls around financial reporting processes.
  • Deliver knowledge sessions and training on IFRS developments and technical accounting applications to internal team members


Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in Audit/ Assurance or Accounting Advisory within the Big4.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, with proven ability to apply in practice across diverse and complex industries, particularly financial services
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting technical papers, advising stakeholders, and supporting consolidation and investment reporting processes

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to clearly articulate complex IFRS issues to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight timelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with finance, legal and tax teams across various jurisdictions.
  • Stakeholder management skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
