About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sommelier to join our team in Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

• Control and monitor wine orders, stock and par level.
• Pick up wines from stores after proper checking of the order and quantity.
• Maintain wine chillier at correct temperature and maintain temperature records.
• Ensure all tables are attended during the service; refilling and fresh orders are taken throughout.
• Report feedback and suggestions to the Sommelier and send updates of the availabilities and non-availabilities of the wine stock.
• Ensure proper labelling is done for all opened bottles, transfer or report as spoilage according to set standards.
• Carry out inventories and explain any variances.
• Carry out cleaning of wine chillers for specific outlets assigned.
• Support the service team with their beverage service if needed.
• Support with additional tasks as assigned by the Sommelier.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Prior experience in a similar role in a luxury hotel or a standalone restaurant, demonstrating a strong understanding of luxury hospitality standards.
• Proficiency in English is required, ideally complemented by proficiency with a second language (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, German or Greek).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Extensive wine and beverage knowledge and the strategic ability to sell by using upselling techniques.
• WSET level 1 or equivalent.
