Lead Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Wood is currently looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer (PMC/Engineering) to join our team in Sharjah, UAE.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

PMC

• Ensure quality and accuracy of EPC Contractor’s and Vendor’s Discipline design activities
• Review and approval of EPC Contractor’s work and ensure compliance with project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best industry practices in compliance with the contractual review periods
• Participate in layout reviews, Model review, design reviews, and technical workshops
  
  

ENGINEERING

• Assume sole responsibility for assigned electrical engineering work scopes
• Carry out electrical discipline work for field development of oil and gas production facilities
• Plan, budget, organize and control a segment of the electrical engineering deliverables for the project
• Prepare electrical deliverables for all project phases the oil and gas industry
• Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
• Provide direction and guidance on all electrical engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
• Liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
• Promote safe behavior at all times
• Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
• Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
• Assist in the coordination of all activities related to electrical engineering design
• Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
  
  

GENERAL

• Ensure that the facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers
• Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning & commissioning
  
  

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry
• Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company
• Experience working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Electrical design and analysis
• Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for Electrical engineering design
• Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards
• Experience of participation in EHAZOP, ETAP, HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating studies
• Self-starter and flexibility to manage and deliver both PMC and engineering activities
