Lead Product Designer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Product Designer to join our innovative team at Inception in Abu Dhabi. As a lead, you will take charge of the design process from conceptualization to delivery, setting the standard for design excellence across our products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that our designs not only meet user needs but also push the boundaries of creativity and usability. This role requires a strategic thinker who can inspire and guide a team, collaborating closely with engineering, product, and business teams to create impactful, user-centered solutions.

Inception is the UAE’s national-scale enabler in AI Research and Development. Partnering with Microsoft's AI SaaS, we offer domain-specific Agentic AI Orchestrator platform utilizing reasoning agents for precise and cost-effective services. Our focus includes AI incubation, IP creation, applied AI R&D, and AI investment products. By creating models tailored to specific domains and languages, we ensure superior accuracy and efficiency. Collaborating with top universities and industry giants to drive significant advancements in AI technology within the region.

Responsibilities

• Design Leadership: Drive the end-to-end design process, from user research to final implementation, while ensuring consistency and excellence in every aspect of the user experience.
• User-Centric Approach: Translate business goals and user needs into functional, engaging, and aesthetically appealing design solutions.
• Collaboration and Strategy: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define and align on the product vision, goals, and roadmap.
• Team Development and Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers, fostering an environment that promotes creativity and innovation.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a design advocate within the organization, conducting design critiques, championing design thinking, and promoting user-centred practices.
• Research and Testing: Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing; analyze findings to derive actionable insights that inform product strategy and design decisions.
• Prototyping and Iteration: Create interactive prototypes to gather user feedback, iterate based on results, and ensure a refined, user-friendly experience.
• Design Systems and Standards: Develop, contribute to, and maintain a scalable design system that ensures efficiency, consistency, and quality across platforms.
• Innovation and Trends: Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies, and propose new innovations to keep the product experience ahead of the curve.
  
  

Qualifications

Skills and attributes for success

• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision), vector design, and image editing tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Advanced UX/UI Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, wireframing, storyboarding, and prototyping.
• Cross-Platform Design: Experience designing for web and mobile platforms (iOS, Android) with a focus on responsive and adaptive design.
• Design System Expertise: Knowledge of maintaining and scaling design systems.
• Research and Analytics: Proficiency in user research, usability testing, A/B testing, and using data to inform design decisions.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading design teams, providing constructive feedback, and cultivating a collaborative design culture.
• Collaboration and Communication: Strong cross-functional collaboration abilities with developers, product managers, and executive stakeholders.
• Business Acumen: Ability to align design work with business goals and contribute to product strategy.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and adaptability.
• Agility: Familiarity with agile methodologies, sprint-based work, and managing multiple projects.
• Technical Understanding: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
  
  

To qualify for the role you must have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
• A track record of successful product launches with a focus on high-quality design and user experience.
