As a Legal Counsel, you will work closely with our General Counsel to handle all complex legal matters and projects, as part of the Legal team across Dubizzle Group. You will ensure the legality of commercial transactions and advise our company on legal rights and duties. You will be responsible to draft, review, negotiate and follow up on a variety of contracts under direction of the General counsel. Your role will be to help the Dubizzle Group Group's legal function across the world. However, based on your location, the vast bulk of your responsibilities will be linked to Dubizzle Group's UAE businesses.

In this role, you will:

  • Consult and handle all corporate legal processes (e.g. intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial/securities offerings, compliance issues, transactions, agreements, lawsuits, patents)
  • Develop company policy and position on legal issues
  • Research, anticipate and guard company against legal risks
  • Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings (administrative boards, court trials etc.)
  • Draft and administer all contracts
  • Negotiate deals, contract terms where required and attend company meetings
  • Assist in follow-up and processing on a variety of contract document requirements
  • Evaluates contract compliance and advises on contractual rights and obligations
  • Collaborating with the various internal departments on contract requirements
  • Conduct training on contract process to the departments
  • Liaise with government authorities in relation to the establishment and maintenance of contracts
  • Organizing and maintaining contracts in a paper or electronic filing system
  • Provide general administrative support for the Legal team


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent certification in England & Wales, Australia or South Africa (or equivalent commonwealth country) and training at an international law firm
  • At least 5 to 8 years of similar experience
  • Experience working as a TMT lawyer (data privacy, telecoms, strategic sourcing and IT advisory matters)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven background on corporate law (contract law, tax law, accounting, securities law, bankruptcy, intellectual property rights, licensing, zoning laws)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ideally Bilingual Arabic - English proficiency
  • Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team oriented environment
  • Excellent academics, drafting skills and the ability to grasp and navigate complex legal matters
  • Well organised and capable of managing multiple matters efficiently and prioritising appropriately
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in other practice areas, corporate law etc
  • Articulate, with strong commercial acumen
