Description

The Logistics Engineer, is responsible for reviewing and designing logistics operations to improve companies' operational efficiency and reduce costs involving multi-modal transportation of liquids in Tank containers.They are expected to manage relationships with set accounts and tender business customers.

Purpose

Oversee implementation of process change, develop metrics to evaluate that the process is being followed and that it brings value to the organization, analyze the distribution processes and identify areas of opportunity for improvement, develop new methods/tools to improve the processes

  • Direct reportees: This role currently has no reportees.
  • Reporting to: This role will be reporting to Business development Manager.
  • Management and control: Currently, this function is not a managerial function.
  • Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the work is carried out in accordance with the safety and SHEQ framework as set by Den Hartogh.
  • Promote and implement data-driven logistics environment, where timely and accurate information is used for decision-making.
  • Create and propose value added propositions / differentiators to customers with the help of latest software, technologies.
  • Develop Market intelligence, trends on flow of business, customers, competition, shipping line and other vital information.
  • Compare and analyze available data to identify patterns, relationships and problems to assist in eliminating / solving loss giving businesses and increasing profitable business.
  • Plan and design campaigns to promote new services, opportunities and to reach out new customers.
  • Prepare marketing material, advisories, presentations, web material to increase customer attention.
  • To review Power BI / data sources on a daily / regular basis and identify orders which are loss giving. To evaluate and find reasons on why orders are going into loss / loosing revenue and rectify the reasons. If the business can’t be salvaged then discuss with team on whether the business is to be retained or dropped.
  • To check data sources for which is most profitable business and discuss with team on retaining this business by marking them as must win business.
  • To check power bi / data sources for business that we have been carrying / carried earlier but we haven’t carried in last 3 months. Find reasons for loosing business and speak with team on how it can be secured back.
  • To scan websites, reports and other sources to find new customers, potential M&A, projects or opportunities.
  • To prepare campaigns / materials to target new customers or to promote DH’s new services / offerings.
  • To obtain market intelligence via reports, internet, customers, vendors on pulse of market in terms of prevailing freights, inventory and other valuable information.
  • To provide value proposals for customer’s supply chain to help them manage their orders efficiently and reduce costs. Eg; change of route, transport mode.
  • To prepare / make environmental friendly solutions for current / new business which will act as a market differentiator.
  • To be the salesforce super user for the region and ensuring NP’s adherence / diligent use of salesforce.
  • To review forecast vs actual orders on a regular basis. Any deviation to be highlighted to the concerned sales person or NP.
  • To prepare forecast, budgets and other reports.
  • To act as back up for BDM and CM, whenever needed. This would involve handling the accounts directly or via NP.
  • To prepare material, presentations for customers, in house and other occasions.
  • To automate tasks, processes using macros, smart excel files and other latest tech / software.
  • Provide commercial support by meeting customers via face to face or online meetings. Meetings to be recorded in Salesforces and necessary tasks to be actioned.
  • Manages the process of quote, tenders, commercial budgets, rate changes and charges for assigned clients with optimum usage of inventory and space allocation.
  • All opportunities to be updated in salesforce and ensure regular follow up to avoid overdue opportunities.
  • Ensures monitoring of account receivables for assigned customer base.
  • Takes over and manages new customer which get converted into account management customers.
  • Ensures accurate commercial reporting about clients and prospects as per network bandwidths under his management.
  • To be participate in calls with Network partners, MMP, order intake or any adhoc calls involving commercial.
  • Play an active role in preparing and finalizing the budget.
  • Is as trouble shooter responsible for solving problems between DH and its clients.
  • Travel as deemed necessary.
  • Authorities
  • Is authorized to negotiate with clients on tariffs in accordance with set calculation methodology and terms + conditions as set for the region.
  • In case of commercial conflicts on interests between DH and its customer(s), Account Manager is authorised to negotiate a solution.


Essential Job Requirements

  • Knowledge:
  • Has strong Data analysis skills and excellent command over the latest software, AI, and statistical / logistics / Marketing tools.
  • Able to compile and organize statistical information.
  • IT and Tech savvy, adept in latest software and technologies.
  • Has knowledge of logistics, transport and chemical sector.
  • Independent decision making:
  • Developing and implementing logistics processes and procedures.
  • Trouble shooting for solving problems with customers in consultation with management.
