Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Machine Operator to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and ensures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The operator position must be proficient in several core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Element has an opportunity for a Machine Operator to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and ensures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The operator position must be proficient in several core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Uses cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing as dictated by the requirements of specifications and standards
- Performs a variety of grinding and machining tasks according to the instructions from the Supervisor based on applicable specifications and requirements
- Understands the technical requirements for the specimens as advised and ensure compliance in terms of readiness of the specimens
- Possesses the ability to communicate with the team and the Supervisor
- Maintains equipment and follows all aspects of preventative maintenance
- Gathers and records dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- ITI certified or equivalent trade skills in machining
- Possess at least 2 years of relevant experience in a machining shop environment using manually operated machines
- Well-developed understanding of specimen preparation
- Skilled in using machines, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts
- Working knowledge of machine shop safety protocol
- Computer skills would be an advantage
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
- Experience in driving a forklift is an advantage
- Frequency of required physical force: Moderate
- Lifting requirements: lifting <20kgs often and > 20kgs on occasion
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 20+kgs periodically
