Manager - Data Governance

Role Overview

To lead the approach, design, and execution of data governance initiatives of Department of Finance. The Manager – Data Governance will participate in the planning, estimation of varied tasks associated with a holistic Data Governance framework and is expected to work closely with Information Technology on solution implementation, architecture design, tool evaluation and project management that support Data Governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely updates back to key stakeholders along with any associated issues and risks.
• Drive overall Data Governance Framework setup and execution across Department of Finance.
• Define, obtain endorsement, and maintain key Data Governance documents and areas including, but not limited to target operating model, roles & responsibilities, policies, standards and processes.
• Execute Data Quality assessment for key systems and critical data elements.
• Implement Data Governance tools like metadata management, reference data management, master data management and data quality.
• Facilitate the resolution of data quality and governance issues on a day-to-day basis.
• Work collaboratively with Data Analytics and BI team to deliver on objectives.
• Build and maintain strong effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that data platform solutions meet the expectation of key business stakeholders.
• Assess and understand the business requirements by liaising with the business stakeholders, Business Analysts and Project Managers.
• Provide inputs and prepare periodic progress reports.
• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practice in order to define intelligent solutions for issues.
• Provide the necessary support to the line manager and perform any other related tasks assigned.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Line Manager.

Experience And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Data or Information Engineering, Computer Science or related fields with a minimum of 6 years of experience in data governance and data quality related projects.
• A professional certificate in project management is preferable such as PMP.
• Good knowledge of the overall Information Management framework, including operating model, data governance, data management, data security, data quality and data architecture.
• Familiar with Data analytics tools like: PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.
• Relevant experience and hands-on in implementing and operating a data governance framework.
• Experience in developing and documenting data standards and business processes.
• Proficient in valued based business proposition development and business process improvement techniques.
