Manager Data Science Ops

Synopsis

As a Manager Data Science, Operations - you will contribute to the analytics transformation process of Etihad's Operations division to transform it into a competitive advantage for the company by implementing data science models to drive incremental cost savings and increase efficiency and revenue. You will be responsible for managing a team of 3-5 data scientists, building & maintaining cutting-edge technologies/models applied in the airline operations space and contribute to proof-of-concept & further end-to-end agile framework implementation.

Accountabilities

• Lead and manage a team of data scientists in developing and maintaining advanced technologies and models tailored to airline operations. Drive cost savings, network optimization and fuel efficiency by developing advanced analytical models (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive) and deploying them in the Operational ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain calibration of models to ensure they are relevant and optimal for the current business state.
• Monitor the benefits of the advanced analytical models and provide monthly reports and actionable insights to the leadership team.
• Research and propose ways to enhance the existing business processes by effectively utilizing advanced analytical solutions.
• Communicate and present insights to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of data science solutions into business operations.
• Continuously monitor and refine models to ensure they meet evolving business needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Share knowledge with the rest of the ops analytics team to upskill existing team members on more advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modelling, forecasting, and machine learning.
• Manage user acceptance testing and roll-out of new systems and upgrades of the existing ones to ensure delivery of requirements as per the business needs without any severe defects or bugs.
• Tracking feedback and satisfaction from stakeholders to understand the effectiveness of data modelling and analysis in meeting their needs.
• Measuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data to ensure it is fit for its intended use.
• Monitoring compliance with data governance policies and identifying areas for improvement.
  
  

Education & Experience

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or data science
• 8+ years of relevant experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data science solutions. Preferably an experience of working within a Business function with an ability to understand and apply the business context.
• Advanced knowledge of statistics and mathematical concepts underpinning advanced analytics models
• Experience using data science programming languages (Python), SQL, and cloud-based data warehouse (Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks)
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining advanced analytical or data models in a business setting
• Experience using GitHub or similar tools for code management
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Professional with deep analytical skills and an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
• Experience within the aviation/travel industry in the operational areas is preferred
• Desirable: Experience in Dev-Ops and ML-Ops methodologies and tools
• Desirable: experience in digital or analytics-related roles in the airline industry.
